Have you swallowed a Thesaurus?                        (Two tugs on the chain for consultancy speak!)

IMG_1380cut

I bet you’ve probably seen this a few times before:

A consulting firm arrives with a 200-slide deck, a glossary of acronyms nobody asked for, and a “digital transformation roadmap” that reads like it was written by someone who’s never wrangled a pipette in their life!

They talk about synergising workflows,  leveraging paradigm shifts and stakeholder alignment cascades. They leave behind a technology stack your scientists quietly work around because nobody asked them what they actually needed.

As an old friend of mine used to say "Consultancy like that deserves two tugs on the chain!"

At ADIGILEAP, we think that’s broken. And we think the fix is surprisingly simple: talk to scientists like scientists.

📋 The Problem: It's not only about IT

Most consultancies approach digital lab transformation as an IT project. Whether it’s LIMS, ELN, SDMS, LES or  instrument integration ,  the language is enterprise software language. The workshops are facilitated by people who’ve never sat in a lab coat and messed up a days worth of lab work because they dropped an Eppendorf or typed the wrong thing into a piece of software.

The result? Systems that tick compliance boxes but fail the people who use them every day. Adoption stalls. Workarounds multiply. The expensive platform you just implemented becomes something to be avoided.

After over 30 years of lab informatics experience fixing the results of such projects. I’ve been there, seen that and got the t-shirt!

💡 The point:

One digital transformation that scientists actually embrace is worth ten that passed UAT but nobody logs into.

What EQ² Actually Means

Experience Quotient × Emotional Quotient = EQ²

This isn’t a marketing strategy. It’s the formula upon which ADIGILEAP is built, it’s what we hire by, coach by and deliver by!

Obviously consultants need Experience Quotient. You want them to have lived the lab technology landscape. LIMS configuration, ELN rollouts, instrument connectivity, data integrity strategy, GxP validation, lab execution systems, scientific data management.

Nowadays, that’s table stakes.

But here’s what most firms miss: technical knowledge without empathy is just a way to make the problem sound more complex!

Emotional Quotient is what makes transformations actually land. Consultants sit with your scientists, analysts, your lab managers, your QC teams and listen. Not with a requirements template in front of them, but with genuine curiosity about how you work, what frustrates you, and what “good” looks like from your operation.

When you multiply deep laboratory technology experience by genuine human understanding, you get something rare: digital transformations that scientists actually want to be part of!

💡 Why it matters:

Most consultancies can tell you what technology to buy. Very few can tell you why your scientists will resist it and how to design an approach that means they don’t.

🧪 Scientist-Centric

It’s not a philosophy we put on a slide and forget about. It shows up in how we work:

🗣️ We speak your language

No “digital enablement matrices.” No “stakeholder alignment cascades.” If we’re talking about your lab’s digital future, we’ll say things like: “Right now, your analysts are entering the same sample data in three places - let’s fix that.” Plain language. Real problems. Clear solutions.

🔬 We start at the bench, not the boardroom

Before we touch a solution, we spend time with the people who’ll use it. We watch how samples move. We ask about the workarounds nobody’s documented. We understand the entire laboratory operation - not just the software layer - and we design digital strategy around how science actually gets done.

🎯 We make adoption the goal, not go-live

Any consultancy can get technology “live.” We measure success differently. If your scientists log in on day one and think “this actually makes my life easier”  that’s our metric. Adoption isn’t a phase in our project plan; it’s the reason the project exists.

⚖️ We’re vendor-independent

We don’t have a platform to sell you. Whether you’re evaluating LIMS, ELN, SDMS, LES, or broader lab informatics architecture our advice is shaped by what’s right for your lab, not our partnership agreements.

📡 Digital Lab Strategy

Digital lab transformation is bigger than any single system. It’s about designing a connected, intelligent laboratory environment where data flows, scientists thrive, and compliance is built in not an afterthought.

A good digital lab consultancy won't start with a feature comparison matrix. They try to find out what the objectives of the project are by asking questions that actually matter:

  • What does your lab need to achieve in the next 2–5 years and what’s standing in the way?
  • Where are your scientists losing time to manual processes, paper, and disconnected systems?
  • What’s been tried before, and why did it stall?
  • The right team matters more than the right methodology
  • Real-world language builds trust faster than jargon ever could
  • Empathy isn’t soft, it’s a competitive advantage that’s hard to replicate
  • Adoption is the only metric that matters in lab digital transformation
  • What do your data foundations need to look like to be AI-ready?
  • How do your instruments, informatics systems, and quality processes connect or fail to?

From there,  build a strategy that spans the full spectrum of lab technology:

The goal isn’t just implementing software. It’s designing the Lab of Tomorro. Integrated, automated, intuitive, and built on an architecture that’s ready for what comes next.

💡 Our vision:

From data siloes and paper-based processes to an AI-ready data continuum with seamless, intuitive user experiences. That’s the leap we help labs make.

🚀 The ADIGILEAP Difference

We’re a small, high-performing team based in Wrexham and that’s deliberate. We don’t have layers of managers between you and the people doing the work. When you engage ADIGILEAP, you get consultants who are transparent, trustworthy, and genuinely enjoyable to work with.

We believe that:

If your lab is planning its digital future, whether that’s a single system implementation or a full transformation programme we’d love a conversation.

No consultancy speak. Just people who understand labs and lab informatics, talking to people who work in Labs

Strategy without implementation is just a PDF we do both

💡 Ready to talk?

Have a look at our services page to read more about what we offer, or get in touch directly. First conversation is always free and always jargon-free.

ADIGILEAP = Experience × Empathy.

Digital lab transformation that scientists actually adopt.
